DESCRIPTION

This bill establishes the procedures for dis-incorporation of a road district in Jasper County.

To dis-incorporate, a petition signed by at least 50 registered voters of the county must be filed with the County Clerk. The petition must be submitted to the clerk at least eight weeks prior to a countywide election. The County Clerk must certify the question to be put before the voters.

The County Commission would be required to dis-incorporate a road district if a majority of the voters voting on the question are in favor of the proposition.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
