FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials at the Department of Higher Education assume that there is no fiscal impact from this proposal.

Officials at the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA) assume this legislation would provide MOHELA with a level playing field in competing against student loan organizations from other states in originating student loans at a reasonable cost, enhancing the organization's long-term financial stability as well as the availability of MOHELA's low-cost student loans and generous borrower benefits to Missouri students and families. MOHELA is a public instrumentality and a body politic and corporate that has never received state appropriations.
