FISCAL DESCRIPTION


Under this act, if no one files as a candidate for a fire protection district Board of Directors election, then no election shall be held and the position shall be filled as a vacancy. The board of directors shall appoint the person, unless there is currently only one director, in which case, the Circuit Court shall appoint the new director. If there is only one candidate for the position, there shall be no election and the person shall assume the responsibilities in the same manner as if he or she was elected.


This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
