ASSUMPTION
Officials of the Department of Public Safety - Fire Safety Division assume no fiscal impact on their agency.
Oversight assumes this proposal would provide some election costs savings for certain fire protection districts. Oversight is not able to determine the amount of savings annually on a statewide basis, and will show savings as unknown.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business
No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposa
FISCAL DESCRIPTION
Under this act, if no one files as a candidate for a fire protection district Board of Directors election, then no election shall be held and the position shall be filled as a vacancy. The board of directors shall appoint the person, unless there is currently only one director, in which case, the Circuit Court shall appoint the new director. If there is only one candidate for the position, there shall be no election and the person shall assume the responsibilities in the same manner as if he or she was elected.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
