FISCAL ANALYSIS


ASSUMPTION


Officials at the Office of the Secretary of State assume that there is no fiscal impact from this proposal. Meetings will be held in the Kirkpatrick State Information Center.


Officials at the Missouri Department of Conservation assume a modest impact from having a representative serve on the Board.


Officials at the Department of Natural Resources, Office of Administration, Missouri House of Representatives, Missouri Senate, Office of the State Treasurer and the Missouri Department of Transportation assume that there is no fiscal impact from this proposal.


Oversight assumes that any costs associated with members serving on this board can be absorbed with existing resources.

FISCAL DESCRIPTION


This act creates the Missouri Board on Geographic Names within the office of the Secretary of State charged with the following duties:


Evaluate proposals for changes in names of geographical features and places.


Make official recommendations to and cooperate with the United States Board on Geographic names.

     

Maintain a list of advisers who have special interest and knowledge in Missouri history,    geography or culture and consult with such advisers.

    

Develop and revise state priorities for geographic records projects.

    

Report annually to the General Assembly.


This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
